Another NEWBIW IN BOARDING TOWN this week! 🎉👯😂🙆🏼🎊 " I joined boarding because of the distance and time that it takes to go back home. Boarding is really nice the food is brilliant and healthy. The houseparent is really nice and understanding. I think other people should join boarding as we can manage time really well and have time for academics and extra curricular activities. "

Newbie in boarding town🎉🎊 "I came to boarding to get closer to my friends
The reason I like living here is because I can study so much better I encourage everyone to join boarding because you can have a fun with your friends and study better since you can focus much more" -Elias Graf, 9B It is customary at the Boarding, to celebrate the end of the calendar year with a big dinner out in town. This year, Kesavarthini writes about what it was like for her.
On the 6th of December 2015, the whole boarding or well, I can say the vast majority of us, minus a few of the weekly boarders that could not make it, had a scrumptious dinner at barbecue nation, in Kammanahalli. I was really excited, as I had been waiting for this for an entire year. We went to the same place as last year and so I was extremely happy as the food there is just so good. This happened on a Sunday evening as there was no school the following Monday, yeah! It was a really good weekend as we had a town outing on Saturday and then the boarding dinner on Sunday. We all travelled there by school transportation and the journey took about 45 min. Once we had attained out destination, I couldn't even wait to be seated and start eating! As usual, as we got settled the waiters brought the small barbecues, for us to keep our starters sizzled! We had spicy prawns, juicy chicken kebabs on skewers and many more… too good ! After that, we had a buffet spread with a variety of different dishes like byriani, gravy delicacies etc. There was just so much to eat that we all dug into the food and just could not stop eating. I had to leave some space in my stomach as I had not forgotten the desserts. Even with the desserts, there was a huge choice of sweet treats and there was ice cream too. Delicious. I'm sure we were all very satisfied with the food. As I looked around, I could see the other boarders all laughing and eating at the same time and talking loudly. I'll never forget this day as we all had so much of fun with food and friends together which strengthened our bond. By Kesavarthini, Grade 10. On Sunday, the 12th of December, a few of the boarders (girls and boys) took part in a Masterchef session organised by Ms Delphine and Mr Bruno. There were about 26 students wherein eleven of them chose to bake chocolate cupcakes with Ms Delphine and the rest were observing Mr Bruno cooking a chicken dish with vegetables.

"Hey:) |
It was a Sunday afternoon in October and a wonderful occasion to have awesome food.
In the CIS boarding we have this junior master chef committee and we had decided to treat the whole boarding to some scrumptious food that not many people knew about…
So we made the famous North Indian dish known as ‘Halwa Puri’.
It is a combination of sweet halwa and black Chenna seeds to be eaten together with fried Puris. It is very famous in north India, however very few students of the boarding had even heard of it, let alone tasted it. We had a lot of fun listening to music and chatting with our friends while rolling puris and trying to make sure that they did not turn out to resemble approximate maps of unknown countries… and they actually ended up looking mostly like nice disk shapes. We also learnt from the school chefs how to make the black chenna which is sour and salty. It is then added to the sweet halwa to contrast and balance out the taste of the sweetness. After we had prepared the dish, we invited all of the boarding staff and students to join us, to begin our Boarding Diwali Function with a sweet treat. It is a Hindu belief, that a good occasion should be started with a dish, sweet tasting to the palate. This in turn, will keep the year a sweet and positive one... Indeed, we enjoyed the dish and had a lot of fun with our friends. To top it all, many of the boarders commented that they enjoyed the Halwa Puri. Testimony of this, are the empty vessels that were left behind soon after we started serving the dish. So it looks like the efforts of the Junior Masterchef Committee have been largely appreciated.
Ending this article, I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the Ms. Bernadette, the whole CIS boarding team and the cafeteria chefs for making this a great learning opportunity for us and also for having such amazing events. Happy Diwali
