On the 27th of September 2 boarding teams went to a sports place in Whitefield in an Adidas sponsored tournament. It was a hot Sunday afternoon. The under 13 team consisted of six players: Sumegh, Isa, Aryan, Rishi, Shashank and Tris. The under 16 team had: Rahul, Aryadeep, Mani, Sai, Shantanu, Yash and Bhuvan. Mr. Reagin came with us as coach. We arrived there around 10 o'clock by bus, after stopping at Decathlon to pick up shin guards and long socks. We ended up reaching nearly 2 hours before our first match started. The outcome of the under thirteen division was that we lost our first match 4-1. We were losing 4-0 until Sumegh pulled off a miracle goal after a good through pass from Isa. We won our second match 3-1, Where Rishi turning out to be the Most Valuable Player after scoring three incredible goals. The last match ended up in a draw 1-1. We took lead in the first half, but our opponents scored in the last few seconds.
The overall organization was decent except they delayed the matches a lot. Also one team called Ozone ended up having a couple of players who were overage and they didn't notice it until the end. The other teams that we played against were; Roots, BYFL( Whitefield A) and Loyola. There many other BYFL clubs. In the end Bengaluru FC won. They had extremely good chemistry and passed very well therefore they emerged victorious. Roots came in second place. One significant moment was Sumegh's goal against Roots Academy. He slid the ball on left of the keeper who was shocked. Another significant goal was Rishi's half line shot. Immediately after centre start, Rishi took a great shot and the keeper had no chance. There was a lot of tension during our first match. We didn't hold up against the pressure and Mr. Regin was not very happy with us. In the second match after Rishi scored our spirits were lifted. Then in the third match we expected ourselves to win until Loyola scored. There wasn't anybody who stood out particularly, but Shashank and Tris didn't get depressed after our first loss and kept us going. But mostly we all played well and our spirits weren't dampened too much. There wasn't much food there though there was a small shop next door where people bought snacks and drinks. We learnt that it's okay not to win and we don't have to get serious too much. We learnt that when we passed we would score, for example Sumegh's goal against Roots. Next time we intend to not too serious, show good sportsmanship and play play our passes well. We definitely hope for improvement in the next tournament and we believe we can do well. Overall, we enjoyed this experience and it was a whole new thing for us. Most of all we enjoyed ourselves and played fair. By Isa & Sumegh
