Target Shooting @ Olive Planet.... Boarders 'shooting' towards another fun-filled Sunday.
Once again, the boarding team of Canadian International school imparted another awesome opportunity to the boarders to try out another adventurous activity- TARGET SHOOTING. On 26th November,2017 students who signed up for this episode stood in front of the gate of our school tentatively waiting to board the bus as Mr. Nimesh (Our wonderful Boarding Parent) did a final head count and then the inevitable rush for the best seats on the bus followed. Everyone was bubbling with enthusiasm as the spirit of the 'fighter,' peeked from each one of them. After a 20 minutes ride, finally their wait was over as the school-bus parked in front of the destination- The Olive Planet Shooting Range. The 'camo,' aesthetic of the place successfully reminded of a military base camp. Every inch of the place was meticulously fuelling the thrill of our aspiring 'world-class shooters.' Soon, one of the staff who reminded of an army personnel on duty (owing to his apparels) approached the group, inviting them to him with a flamboyant smile. He led the group to the backyard of the place, which had been quintessentially modelled into a shooting range. Each pair eyes twinkled as the gazes landed on the air guns and the shining small row of the ammunition- air-gun pellets. The excited students could not wait to test their infallible aiming skills. The coordinator gleamed at the infectious enthusiasm radiated by each of our fellow boarders. He did not give a long dragging speech instead he kept the precautionary advice short and to the point- "Fun and not pesky injuries is what we want...Isn't it? so, the aim is to be directed only toward the target sheet, those tiny pellets can 'cause a lot of pain. Have fun!" And then who could have stopped our brave troop? Each student armed with the air-guns and the ammo were all ready to blaze-away the target sheet. They were challenged to hit the bulls-eye at every count of three. And on each count of one...two...and three.... Bang! the ammos went swiftly perforating the target. All the students aimed really phenomenally. They all learned a new skill indeed but most importantly these 'snipers,' had a lot of fun!! The activity was made even better as they were shown around the place, where they got a glimpse of a range of real pistols, rifles, knifes and a range of military badges. It was an inspiring tour filled with gallant real-life stories of our brave Indian Army. After this fun-filled trip, it was time to return to our cozy ‘base-camp’ (~Also known as, our beloved home away from home- The CIS Boarding) but not just yet...the famished lot got a treat of a homely traditional meal from the cafe, but were we satisfied?!...Nope! not until they crashed into the nearest McDonald's and had their fill. Oh well! with that the boarders had successfully turned another weekend wonderfully amazing! ~ Swati Biswas. (IB 1-JK)
